Description
The Choco-Story Turin chocolate museum takes about an hour and is a multisensory experience that ends with a tasting. It follows cocoa from the ancient lands of the pre-Columbian civilisations to the courts of Europe, and explains how Turin helped make chocolate famous worldwide.
The route moves through three themes.
- The history of cocoa, from its origins in the New World to its arrival in Europe
- The first recipes and the innovations of Turin's masters, who created new flavours and processes
- A working chocolate factory, where you see the production steps up close, from the selection of cocoa beans to the making of gianduiotti
An audio guide comes with your entry in Italian, English, French, Spanish or German. It narrates the whole story and starts the interactive installations along the way. At the end you taste three types of chocolate, guided through flavours and aromas.
The museum suits families, curious travellers and anyone with a sweet tooth. Access is only partly suitable for wheelchairs and prams: there are ramps and lifts at the entrance and exit, and the lift is 75 cm wide and 125 cm deep.
