Description
The people of Turin took on fascism and the Nazi occupation, and this Turin Resistance bike tour tells that story from the saddle. Over about three hours you cycle slowly through the centre, stopping eight times at places linked to the Italian partisans and to ordinary people who acted with remarkable courage.
The route is 5 km, flat, and stays on safe cycle paths and car-free pedestrian areas, so it works for cyclists of any age and ability. A coffee and toilet break is built in.
Everything needed is provided:
- a classic Italian city bike with a basket for a small bag
- a helmet, which is compulsory
- insurance
- a qualified cycle tour guide
The tour starts and ends at Piazza Arbarello, in the Quadrilatero behind Via Garibaldi. Bring water, sun cream if it is hot and a jacket if it is cold or wet. Sporty clothing is not necessary. The stories are those of the anti-fascist Resistance, told on the spot by a guide who shows a side of Turin that most guides leave out. It is not suitable for children under 14.
