Description
This Don Bosco walking tour in Turin lasts about two and a half hours and follows the Social Saints who made the city a beacon of solidarity. It starts in Valdocco, where Don Bosco's mission was born. You see the Don Bosco Museum and the house he lived in, along with the yard where he spent his free time with his boys, then go into the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians, where the Salesian mission took root and went on to reach the world.
From there the route crosses the historic centre, on the trail of Joseph Cottolengo and Joseph Cafasso, two figures at the root of Turin's religious and social history. The Sanctuary of La Consolata, one of Turin's best-loved churches, is known for its touching ex-votos. The walk ends in front of Palazzo Barolo, tied to Marchesa Giulia di Barolo, who founded the Sisters of Saint Anne.

Along the way you learn why this quarter is called the District of Holiness: it is said that nowhere else in the world are there more Saints and Blesseds in each square metre. Italian churches do not allow mini-skirts, shorts or sleeveless shirts, so dress accordingly.
