Description
You meet your guide at the entrance and skip the queue on this Turin Royal Palace guided tour, which lasts around an hour and a half. The Savoy family ruled from here in the 1800s and early 1900s, and the visit retraces their steps through rooms you can easily picture lived in.
- The throne room, the bedchambers and the ballroom
- Architecture and decoration, explained detail by detail
- Stories of the ceremonies and events held under this roof
The guide goes back to the sixteenth century, when the building's history began, and carries on to the years before Italy became a republic in 1946.
The last stop is the Chapel of the Holy Shroud, a Baroque chapel built for the relic. You will not see the Shroud itself on this tour, but the chapel's interior and history are worth the stop.
The booking covers the guide and the fast-track ticket, in English or Italian. At least two participants are needed for it to run, children must be with an adult, and it goes ahead in any weather. Some areas may be hard for people with reduced mobility.
