Description

The Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo is one of Turin's best-known contemporary art centers, on Via Modane in the Borgo San Paolo neighborhood: exhibitions of artists, mostly young ones, in a former factory turned into an exhibition space.

The building, opened in 2002 on the site of the former Fergat plant, is the work of architect Claudio Silvestrin: pared-down volumes and a large hall for temporary exhibitions, designed to host concerts, shows, performances and talks too. For families there are dedicated Sundays and workshops.

The foundation was set up in 1995 by the collector Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, with its first home in an 18th-century palazzo in Guarene d'Alba. Since then it has reached as far as Madrid, and in 2022 the Turin venue welcomed about 89,000 visitors.
