Description
Erected in 1930 and composed of four groups of statues representing the four seasons, the monument was commissioned by Mayor Riccardo Cattaneo. It was built according to a design by sculptor Giovanni Riva, thanks also to funding from Minister Paolo Baiotti, and named after the latter's mother (Angelica Cugiani). Initially, it was intended to be placed in front of the cathedral, in Piazza San Giovanni, but Piazza Solferino was eventually chosen as it offered a more suitable setting to contain it.
