Description
Cisterna Palace, an abbreviation of Dal Pozzo della Cisterna Palace, was built starting in 1675 by Antonio Maurizio Valperga, or his brother Andrea, on behalf of the Ripa di Giaglione count family. It passed into the ownership of the Dal Pozzo della Cisterna princes, who had it renovated by the architect Francesco Valeriano Dellala di Beinasco in 1773. In 1887, for the wedding of Maria Vittoria dal Pozzo della Cisterna with the Duke of Aosta Amedeo, which took place on May 30, 1867 in Stupinigi, the inner wings were built and decorated by Francesco Gonin and Domenico Ferri.
In 1940 it was purchased by the Province of Turin, which had it renovated by the architect Giovanni Chevalley, and in 1945 it became its headquarters.
