Description

The Palazzo Saluzzo di Paesana is an eighteenth-century palace, conceived almost as a second royal palace in competition with the Royal Palace of Turin, the Savoy residence. It was designed by the architect Plantery at the beginning of the eighteenth century at the behest of Baldassarre Saluzzo di Paesana, Knight of the Most Holy Annunciation, Count of Paesana, Oncino, Ostana and Castellar, and occupies an entire block between Via Garibaldi, Via della Consolata, and Via del Carmine.

Featuring an entrance hall with Doric and Corinthian columns, it comprises a large and imposing inner courtyard with two staircases, one on the right, with two loggias to the east and west of the main floor, and the other at the back. Servants' quarters and stables, housed in a service courtyard, were located in the western wing of the palace while the state apartments were in the eastern wing.
